Motorola Solutions' Hackathon 2017

A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE TO COLLABORATE, INNOVATE AND CONTRIBUTE TO BUILDING SAFER AUSTRALIAN COMMUNITIES.

Motorola Solutions, working in partnership with public safety agencies, will host a HACKATHON in September 2017 to develop innovative, data-driven applications which create dynamic common operating environments that strengthen situational awareness, safety and response.

COMPLEX CHALLENGES REQUIRE NEW THINKING

While the explosion of “big data” and connected devices that make up the “Internet of things” are making information more freely available, they also pose the risk of creating an overwhelming data deluge which creates distraction for responders rather than enabling them to make use of the right data at the right time to make better decisions.

Building smarter, safer cities demands broad co-operation and commitment from government, public safety agencies, the private sector, mission-critical communication experts and application developers to ensure innovation is truly focused on making cities safer for citizens and first responders alike.

CONVERGING LMR AND BROADBAND TO ENABLE NEW CAPABILITIES

Voice communications will always be essential in public safety
but intelligent data solutions will enable agencies to reach new
levels of performance and safety for the community and their
teams.

This creates a need to unify Land Mobile Radio (LMR) voice networks, which first
responders rely on every day, with broadband (data) networks so
they can extract value from both forms of communication.
This is important because as the complexity of different
devices, networks and apps increases, first responders need the
confidence of group communications - knowing who is nearby,
talking or sharing information with others, maintaining situational
awareness - with as much dynamic control as possible.
